Presenter spotlight: Jonna Hayden

Spread the love

Jonna Hayden, Production Manager of Raconteur Press, is a retired Costume Designer and Clothing Historian who spent the better part of 40 years in SF fandom collecting authors. She began her love of SF as a Navy brat, reading Heinlein Juveniles and spending her formative years hanging out on the West Coast Convention Circuit.

She has been a regular presenter at conventions and conferences throughout the US, educating authors on clothing history, terminology, textiles and the ‘why’ of Dress. She also speaks about being a self-employed creative, having survived in the independent trenches for 30 years.

Her travels led her to the North Texas Troublemakers, and moving her business to Texas during the Covid years. A dare at lunch to LawDog ended up in the creation of Raconteur Press, and in the ensuing chaos, she hired herself as the Production Manager. The combination of having done live theater and knowing authors means she’s particularly skilled at managing creative personalities, including making them wear pants. No, really. It says that on her business cards: “She who makes them wear pants.”
